Inauguration of Dr. Robert Michael Franklin '75
10th President of the College

We hope you will make plans to join us in Atlanta, February 14-17, 2008 for a festive Founder’s Day and Gala Weekend. Come experience history in the making as we Inaugurate Dr. Robert Michael Franklin '75 as the 10th President of Morehouse College. We will also officially welcome Dr. Cheryl Goffney Franklin as she joins President Franklin as our 10th First Lady. This is sure to be a weekend to remember.

Official invitations will be mailed during the month of December, but we wanted to extend an early invitation for you to join us for these historic and memorable events in the life of the College.

Highlights of the Week

Thursday, February 14
o Founder’s Day Convocation (10:45 am - King Chapel)
o Inaugural Symposia (2:00 p.m. - Executive Leadership Center)

Friday, February 15
o Inauguration of the Dr. Robert Michael Franklin '75 (10 a.m. - King Chapel)
o Inauguration Reception (immediately following Ceremony - Forbes Arena)
o Parent’s Reception – (5:30 p.m. - Kilgore Campus Center)
o Key Supporter’s Reception (African America Hall of Fame – 6:00 pm)
o Inaugural Concert featuring the Morehouse College Glee Club (8 pm - King Chapel)

Saturday, February 16
o Reflections of Excellence featuring our Gala Honorees (11:00 - King Chapel)
o Founder's Day Basketball Game vs.CAU (3:00 – Forbes Arena)
o 20th Annual “A Candle in the Dark” Gala and Inaugural Ball (7:30 p.m.) - Location: Hyatt Regency Atlanta - 265 Peachtree Street NE - Atlanta, GA 30303

Honorees include:
* General Electric Vice Chairman, Lloyd Trotter,
* Ret. Lt. General (Army) James R. Hall '57,
* noted pediatric orthopaedist Alvin Crawford,
* renowned urological scientist Mack Roach '75,
* revered theologian and educator M. William Howard '68,
* distinguished and pioneering physician, Clinton Warner '44,
* Grammy Award winning recording artist and producer, Smokey Robinson
* and a surprise honoree.

Gala Ticket Costs:

o VIP Admission (Includes VIP Reception) $400.00 per ticket
o General Admission $250.00 per ticket

Net proceeds from the Gala benefit the Morehouse College General Scholarship Fund and helps the College preserve the legacy of our most illustrious alumnus, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the
National Memorial in Washington, DC.
